The CFCNCA relies on a dedicated group of Campaign Workers to take on critical leadership roles within a powerful community of caring. Approximately 30,000 Campaign Workers serve the campaign every year, training, fundraising, engaging leaders, event planning, and thanking donors. Many of these individuals have a story about why the CFC is important to them.

We recently interviewed Melissa Goodloe from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Here is an excerpt from that interview:

Q: Tell me a little bit about you and your family.

Giving Thanks and "Paying It Forward"

Thanksgiving is a time of year when people give thanks, but it also can be a great time to give back to those who are in need.

Pat’s Story:

Best Practices Forum Provides Pathways to Success in the CFCNCA

The CFCNCA Best Practices Forum brought together federal workers, specifically Campaign Managers and Coordinators, who are well into the 2012 campaign season.  These campaign workers lead coordinated efforts to promote giving within their agencies and strengthen donor engagement and participation from senior management to administrative staff.

ELC engages a new generation of donors

Emerging Leadership Network members from the Environmental Protection Agency (pictured above) invited members of the Emerging Leadership Council for the CFCNCA to a recent social hour to share ideas and common goals for the future. It was a productive evening that promises positive outcomes for both groups and the Federal agencies represented.

When the time came to recruit and engage new federal donors  for the 2012 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA), the Emerging Leadership Council (ELC) stepped up to the challenge.

The ELC, formerly known as the Young Donors Advisory Council (YDAC) began as a simple research project in 2011 when its creator decided to establish focus groups, which aimed to determine how to engage first-time CFCNCA participants.

Grose notes, “the CFCNCA wanted fresh brand ambassadors, not test subjects.”

Communities suffered what many are saying is the most severe tropical storm in years; as a result of the storm, people found themselves with limited or no electricity, flooded streets, and severely damaged homes.
